Online Registrations

Lidcombe Waratah FC invites all local residents to join up and play soccer in 2026. We are taking online registrations NOW!

Registering with Lidcombe Waratah Junior Soccer Club is simple, as everything is within your fingertips’ reach. There are four steps, and they must be completed in the order set out below.

Please read this correspondence in full before you begin. Steps One to Three secure your child’s place for the season. Step Four sets out the obligations you accept on your child’s behalf at the moment you register. Those obligations are not optional. Several are imposed upon the Club by its governing bodies and by NSW law, and the Club has no discretion to waive them.

STEP ONE – Secure your $50 Active and Creative Kids voucher (do this first)

If you are eligible, the NSW Government’s Active and Creative Kids voucher is worth $50.00 and may be applied to your child’s registration, leaving you to pay only the balance.

  • Eligibility: Families receiving the Family Tax Benefit may apply for one voucher per eligible child in each distribution period.
  • Current Voucher: Released 15 July 2026 and valid until 14 July 2027. The next voucher is released in January 2027.
  • Apply Here: Service NSW – Apply for an Active and Creative Kids voucher

Obtain the voucher before you register on the Play Football website. The voucher number must be entered during the registration transaction. It cannot be applied retrospectively, and the Club
is not able to refund or credit the $50.00 once registration has been paid.

STEP TWO – Register through the Play Football platform

Registration link: Lidcombe Waratah Junior Soccer Club – Play Football registration

  1. Create a parent/guardian account first. Your child is a minor (under 18 years of age) and cannot hold an account in their own Once your account is active, link your child to it.
  2. Upload a current photograph to your child’s profile – a clear, forward-facing head-and-shoulders A sample image showing the required format is attached to this email.
  3. Apply your Active and Creative Kids voucher at the payment stage, then pay the
  4. Email your child’s birth certificate to me at registrar.lidcombewaratah@gmail.com replying to the confirmation email you receive on completion of registration.

Your child’s registration remains pending approval until the birth certificate is received and the date of birth is verified. Proof of age is a condition of registration imposed by the competition, not a Club formality. A player cannot be graded, insured or fielded in a match until it is satisfied.

STEP THREE – Playing kit and gear

  • Shorts and socks are purchased from the canteen at a cost of $35.00 and are yours to
  • The playing shirt is provided by the Club at no cost and must be returned at the end of the season. Shirts carry our sponsors’ names and remain the property of the Sponsorship is what keeps registration fees affordable; the return of every shirt is therefore a condition of being issued one.

STEP FOUR – Parent commitments (the critical step)

This is the step that most warrants your attention. Lidcombe Waratah Junior Soccer Club is run entirely by volunteers. We do not employ paid coaches. Every coach and team manager is a parent who has stepped forward to support their own child and the children alongside them. The season proceeds only because parents accept the commitments set out below. We encourage every parent to step up and be an active role model for their child or children.

Currently, all teams are full. If you wish to register for next year, please fill out the form below.

1. Weekly Training

Parents are expected to attend training with their child. Training times are as follows:

Age Group Training day Training time
Under 6s and Under 7s Wednesday 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Under 8s and Under 9s Wednesday 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Under 10s and Under 11s Thursday 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Under 12s and Under 13s Tuesday 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Under 14s and Under 16s Wednesday 6.00pm – 7.00pm

Training is subject to wet weather and park closures. Any change will be communicated by your team manager. Please do not attend an unconfirmed session.

2. Saturday Matches

Matches are played on Saturday mornings, at any time between 8.30am and 12.00pm. The Club does not control the draw; fixtures are set by the association and are not negotiable.

3. Gala day

Where a special gala day event is scheduled, it is held on a Sunday and attendance is expected.
Three (3) matches are played on the day

4. Canteen and barbecue duty

As the Club is run by volunteers, parents are required from time to time to assist with canteen and barbecue duties (applicable when we play at our home ground). A roster will be distributed to all coaches and team managers. Where a roster is issued, it is a commitment, and the Club relies upon it.

Please note: canteen and barbecue duty requires a valid Working with Children Check.

  • Club policy. Every parent rostered to canteen or barbecue duty must hold a current, cleared WWC Check and must have supplied the number to the Registrar for verification before their first rostered shift. A parent whose check has not been verified will not be placed on the
  • Why the Club takes this position. Canteen and barbecue volunteers are present at the ground for the duration of the morning, in close and largely unsupervised proximity to children, and are routinely called upon at short notice to assist with ground set-up, with first aid, or to stand in as a team official – roles which unambiguously require a check. The Club does not administer two standards.
  • The statutory minimum and the Club’s standard are not the same Canteen duty alone may not, of itself, satisfy the definition of child-related work under the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 (NSW). The Club has deliberately adopted the higher standard, as it is entitled to do and as the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations contemplate. I ask you to accept it in the spirit in which it is set: the children on our ground are entitled to the stronger protection, not the minimum one.
  • You apply The check is free for volunteers, is valid for five (5) years, and covers every volunteer role you may hold at this Club – canteen, barbecue, coaching, managing or committee. The four steps are set out immediately below.

5. Working with Children Check – how to obtain one

A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is mandatory for every parent who coaches, manages or otherwise assists a team. This is a requirement of the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian and of Football NSW. It is not a Club preference, and the Club has no authority to waive it. It applies in addition to the Club’s canteen and barbecue policy at item 4 above; a single check satisfies both.

Please note carefully: Football NSW policy provides no exemption for parent volunteers. Every person aged 18 years or over in a child-related role in football – coach, team manager, committee member, team official, or any person with access to children’s registration or personal details – must hold a cleared Working with Children Check.

If you already hold a check but cannot locate your number, retrieve it at wwccheck.ocg.nsw.gov.au/FindMyNumber.

How a parent obtains a volunteer Working with Children Check

Step 1

Apply online – free of charge for volunteers. Complete the application at wwccheck.ocg.nsw.gov.au/Apply. A volunteer check costs nothing; the $112.00 fee applies only to paid workers. You must be aged 18 or over.

Step 2

Attend a Service NSW Centre. Record the APP number issued at the end of the online application and present it at a Service NSW Centre within 28 days, together with four (4) original proof-of-identity documents, at least one bearing your photograph and signature. Requirements are listed at Service NSW – Apply for a Working with Children Check.

Step 3

Await the outcome. A National Police Criminal History check is then conducted, which may take up to four (4) weeks. Your WWC number is issued to you by email. Step-by-step guidance is published at Office of the Children’s Guardian – How to apply for a WWCC.

Step 4

Provide your details to me for verification. Send me your full name as it appears on the check, your date of birth, your WWC number and its expiry date. The Club is legally obliged to verify every number through the Office of the Children’s Guardian employer portal and to record the outcome before you commence in the role.

A cleared check is valid for five (5) years, and holders are subject to continuous monitoring for the life of the check. You may not coach, manage, take a canteen or barbecue shift, or perform any child-related role until your WWC number has been verified as CLEARED. Penalties of up to $11,000 apply to individuals and to organisations for non-compliance, and the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian audits clubs from time to time. I ask you to apply early: four weeks of processing at the start of a season is the single most common cause of a team being left without a cleared coach.

YOUR REGISTRATION CHECKLIST

Please satisfy yourself that each of the following has been completed:

Registration is straightforward, and the obligations that accompany it are equally clear. Our Club exists because parents give their time; the standards above exist because the children in our care are entitled to nothing less. If any step is unclear, or if you encounter difficulty with the voucher, the registration platform or the Working with Children Check, contact us directly before the season commences – a question asked early is far easier to resolve than a registration held in abeyance on match day.

New Players – Identification Requirements

New players must provide one of the approved identification documents listed below. A Club official must sight and copy one of the approved forms of identification.

You can email registrar.lidcombewaratah@gmail.com with your identification documents.

Approved original proof of age documentation for juniors

Approved original proof of identity documentation for seniors

In addition to registering with the club, you may be eligible for the NSW Government grant Active Kids voucher, which you can use for your child’s registration fees. Essentially you will be able to deduct $50.00 from your child’s registration fees.

If you wish to learn more about the Active Kids and Creative Kids voucher, you can register here

NOTE: A family discount of $20.00 applies to the second and subsequent family members registering with the club. The family discount applies regardless of the age or division in which the additional family members play. Players playing above their age group due to no team being entered in their age group will only pay the fee of their age group. However, a player choosing to play in an older age group when a team has been entered into their age group will pay the fee of the older age group.

How is my age group determined?

For those age groups preceded by the word “under”, your age is determined as your actual age in the current calendar year of registration. For example, if you turn 10 during the calendar year (1st January through 31st December), you are an “Under 10”.

For Over 35s, the opposite applies, you can only register (and play) on or after your 35th birthday.

A “NO PAY-NO PLAY” policy will cover all age groups

This means that to play soccer, registration fees must be paid in full when registering. For families experiencing financial difficulty, please contact one of the Club Officials so that we can discuss your situation.
